Fruit and Vegetable Research Institute
Research is being done to cultivate superior varieties of strawberries and tomatoes, increase their competitiveness, reduce damage caused by planting in the same plot again, and increase exports by supporting field-based farming technologies.
Nonsan Strawberry Experiment Station
The Nonsan Strawberry Experiment Station aims to increase the revenue of strawberry farmers in Chungcheongnam-do by growing and supplying disease-free varieties. The facility is also researching a system for the cultivation and distribution of new strawberry varieties, increasing their freshness, and preventing pests and diseases from harming the strawberries. The station focuses on technical progress in strawberry farms and proceeds with on-site practical research with the aim of producing superior-quality strawberries.
Seasoning Vegetables Research Institute
The main researches of the Seasoning Vegetables Research Institute include the development of new varieties of garlic cultivated early, inheritance collection and good ginger variety selection, development of storage and large-scale cultivation technologies for ginger breeding, development of eco-friendly and high-quality pepper, and inheritance collection and good wild chive variety selection. Our institute aims to create new streams of revenue, produce and distribute good varieties of gingers and peppers, and overcome difficult technologies through research.
Flower Research Institute
The Flower Research Institute researches chrysanthemum, lilies, freesias, and orchids for the development of flower cultivation technology suitable for Chungcheongnam-do and to increase revenue for flower farms. The institute is researching with the aims of “fostering new varieties of flowers with international competitiveness” and “developing new cultivation techniques for the stable production and distribution of good varieties of flowers with no diseases” to increase flower exports and Chungcheongnam-do’s competitiveness in flower cultivation.
Ginseng and Medicinal Plant Research Institute
The Ginseng and Medicinal Plant Research Institute sets the resolution of technical difficulties in farming as its main goal. The institute also aims at the stabilization of rural household incomes by strengthening international competitiveness and increasing export through the cultivation of new varieties of ginseng and medicinal plants, technology for high quality, quantity, and labor saving, and development and distribution of processed products with improved functionality and added value.
Cheongyang Goji Berry Experiment Station
The Cheongyang Goji Berry Experiment Station aims to produce many high-quality disease- and insect-resistant goji berries, cultivate new varieties of goji berries with high functionality, establish high-quality eco-friendly biomass cultivation technology, develop new processed products to increase demand, develop biomass cultivation technology to reduce production cost, and supply good seedlings to farmers.
Seed Management Office
The Seed Management Office was the first seed-raising facility in Chungcheongnam-do for self-sufficiency in food production through the distribution of superior rice varieties. The office cultivates seeds of food crops including rice, beans, and seed potatoes in Yesan (main branch) and Nonsan (branch office).
Sericulture and Entomology Experiment Station
Focusing on reducing production costs through improvements in sericulture farm management structure, the Sericulture and Entomology Experiment Station has recently started to produce and distribute not only superior silkworm varieties but also mass production technology of silkworm powder and Cordyceps, functional products using silkworm. We are also concentrating on educating silkworm farms.
